Lately my red top GSI seems a little slow on pick up. Anything over 2500rpm and its fine.
I have done over 12000miles since getting the car. A mate of mine has said it could be the coil breaking down. I have never replaced this and it looks very old.
Is this likely to be the problem?
The car has been on the rollers and the peak power is fine.
I have replaced the fuel filer, cleaned the throttle body, flushed the injectors and fitted new plug.
If it is the coil are they any makes to go for or stay away from.
(The car has a dizzy)
check the ht leads and it is possible for the coil to breakdown after time it loses some voltage they can be tested but not sure how mine is a bit hesitant under 3000 rpm but only just fitted it so not sure how to cure it yet have you checked the timing hasent jumped a tooth
