for a while now the engine management light comes on when driving for a period of time at 76mph. Thought it could be lamda sensor, so changed that. Still no good, i have tried reading fault codes but to no joy.
Anyway it still happens, thought it may be K&N cone but my engine has been setup on RR after unichip was installed. I noticed the other day it happened and its not 76mph but as the car sits at 3000rpm. I think its a worn throttle position sensor.
Has anyone ever had similar problems. hoping to borrow a spare one to check.
i use to be able to read fault codes but reasently using the paper clip method i cannot get it to flash. some vauxhall garages say with older cars it gets harder to read due to poor wiring etc. Vauxhall could read it the last time it was in.

possible, sometimes down to fatigue of a cable form bending. Have you cleaned the contact pins in the 10-pin ALDL plug? If you can't get the codes from there by sorting the two pins with a paper clip, you can do it further down the loom, in fact theres a connetor right beside the ECU loom (3 off). You need to remove the drivers foot well kick panel to gain access to the ECU. Down beside the is the fuel pump relay (depending on year of car) and 3 sqaure conectors, 2 black, 1 green. I can't remember off the top of my head which connector or pin its is, but one of those pins is the ECU flash pin. So you can ground that out and the ECU bulb should flash.
This is probably not much help, but i have had a similar prob with my astra GSi. It run ok till it got over 3000rpm, and warmed up, then light came on and stayed on, when I started the next day, the same thing. I took it too Vauxhall and it was the crank sencer. They done it, and now its OK, but it cost 150 notes but, its fine. Good luck.
It has happened again, car ran great for 15 miles pulled well but on the way home i accelarated hard then easied off, as i did the engine management light came on. Switched engine off to clear it. started her up again and it was fine.
got home and read fault code, still saying knock sensor. could this be from the last time and something else is causing it and if so what.
dont know what to do.
