My wifes Champion GTE 16v has killed 3 fuel pumps in just over a year!
The first one was on the car when she bought it and then seised.
Second was a second hand one from breakers , worked for about 2 weeks (RAC Man on first name terms now)
I thought we may aswell fix it once and for all so I bought a new pump from my local Bosch INJECTION SPECIALIST (£80)
PART NO 0580464070 this one has lasted 5 months before dying.
I change fuel fillter every 12 months and I have put a brand new fuel tank on (I even had it plastic coated) and replaced all the pipes from the tank to the pump/filter etc
I have tested voltage at pump and only have about 7 v whilst cranking engine over (It has a new battery),
Could low voltage cause pumps to die?
What should voltage at pump be?
I can hear fuel pump rely clicking on/off when turning ignition on and off.
Please help as it is my wifes car and it needs to be reliable.
Thanks in advance.
Just took pump off car and put it across fully charged battery. Locked solid.
This problem is Pi@@?*G me off and my wife is now talking about changing her car
