just stripped my engine apart ready for a rebuild due to cambelt failure last weekend and was wondering where you guys recomend getting parts from. still not sure whether i will tackle the head myself yet but for now i will need pistons and rings( there is slight crown damage to the pistons), gaskets for the sump and baffle plate, new oil pump(possibly) and defo a new water pump. bearing in mind i have an sbd tp208 throttle body kit to go on i would like to know about any parts that i could upgrade to make the engine as strong and reliable as possible( except the rod bolts as i already have arp's on there) and where to get the parts from. cheers, any help is greatly appreciated
I've rebuilt a c20let and partially a c20xe (still in progress). I got most if not all my parts from www.autovaux.co.uk and some at local VX dealer as I have trade club with club calibra.
I balanced the crank and piston son mine, but to be honest, the std GM affair is pretty much spot on, mine cost £60 to do. Ligthen the flywheel, got mine done for £80 (Power Zone in Revs). The block you can keep standard. I got my head done by Animal on this forum, just basic porting. Have search on the for sale section for other parts.
The oil pump may be ok, why do you think its damaged? Get new water pump, pullies, tensioer and belts etc. What year is your c20xe? I got my rings from autovaux. get the fuel injectors cleaned (see cavvy_sri from this forum). Also ARP con rod bolts, which by the sounds of it you already have.
