Thanks for the info, however I have not got an ECU warning light as it is a transplanted engine into an old manta. However, how much in millimetres, approximately, should be showing of the threaded rod after I have adjusted the waist gate?

This is not an accurate method of setting up the actuator.
If it's an aftermarket item then the settings would be totally different to a stock one.
Better is to unscrew it almost completely and then go on screwing a couple of turns and going for a drive. Whack the throttle open at 3K rpm in 3rd or 4th and see what the max boost is.
