Just bought dave dicksons XE and basically the alternator belt is rubbing against the timing belt cover and piercing it.
On the crankshaft pulley theres two spaces for belts and seemingly one's for the PAS (now removed) and the other for the alternator.
1. What do you suggest to prevent the belt piercing the cover further?
2. The alternator seems an aftermarket (partco like) replacement, would this be the root of the problem?
3. Could i space out the alternator for the belt to run on the PAS side of the crankshaft pulley i.e the outside edge nearest the drivers' wing?
All suggestions much appreciated.
