I refer to the mod where the breather tube at the compressor is blocked off, and the thick camcover pipe is vented to the atmosphere.
I've seen a few people have done it, and I wonder WHY? What symptoms did you have, and were they fixed after the mod?
OK, the pipes can get clogged with crap over time, blocking the passage - this can result to the turbo smoking due to inadequate crank ventilation. But surely it takes ages for the thick pipe to clog, right?
Another issue is that the amal valve also uses that vacuum, and it wouldn't work right seeing no vacuum at all (or am I missing something here?)
This thick pipe is on the 'atmo' side of the turbo, so it's never pressurised - it always pulls a healthy vacuum. This should always help evacuate the crankcase buildup, especially on older engines with blowby. I've seen it myself reduce the crank pressure by swapping its settings.
And why exactly is the smaller breather pipe (with the one-way valve) there? It's parallel to the big one, but a lot smaller. Even when it works fine, it only helps while off-boost (when crank pressures are at their lowest!)
The reason I'm asking is that I'm getting some smoke through the seals under boost only, as opposed to before that it was belching mainly under vacuum
