The last few days my car (1.4 sr engine with auto choke) has on occasion been hesitating under normal acceleration asif i keep taking my foot off the accelerator and reapplying.
At first it wasn't that bad it would hesitate slightly and then be fine but yesterday i'd driven it for twenty minutes with the slight hesitation there.
left the car for 3 hours then set off back into workabout 10 mins into my 15 minute journey the car started seriously jerking if cruising at 25 in 3rd or 30 in 4th the only way to drive the car without major hesitations was to drive it in high revs in 2nd.
I drove the car back home an hour later with hesitation most of the way home with occasional pops from the exhaustand when i arrived home the idle was seriously erratic.
When i started the car again this morning it idled fine and behaved perfectly for 10 minutes before suddenly reverting back to jerky mode. When I got into work there was a strong smell of petrol from the exhaust so I assume the car is seriously overfueling.
Anybody any idea whats going on? I did wonder whether the cambelt had slipped or i was running on three cylinders last night but as the car seems to run perfectly some of the time i'm baffled.
Other notes. Water and oil are at normal levels and the temp guage usually gets to 1/4 way on my normal drive to work.
