Help required please, I'll set the scene,
Went to have a look at a black 1990 G plate cav gsi today, 110k service history, all original panels etc just got rotten rear arches,
The car has been standing since January, So majorly knackered flat battery, causing the car to hunt at idle, when connected by jump leads to another car it idles fine, no startup up tappet noise or smoke,
It belongs to a work colleague who brought it to restore and he hasn't got the time and his wife is giving him grief about it etc He'd jetwashed the engine before I got rounf there to clean it up a bit,
After jump starting the car it started straigtaway from cold and all looked good, but then I took it out for a test drive and it spluttered and misfired all over the place, management light came on and I returned to his house, just left it idling to warm it up and see if it would dry out, fans all cut in etc, took it out again but it was still misfiring, car cut out and I couldn't bump it to get going again, so I phoned the seller up and said come and rescue me with some jump leads, he'd put the jump leads on the wrong way round at first, but when this was corrected the car would not start again, just turns but doesn't fire,
Towed the car back to his house and removed the cap and rotor arm - both original, and they are knackered so will be raplaced tomorrow
Any ideas as to whats gone wrong, I'm just hoping it hasn't knackered the ecu or something, knackered petrol after six months standing?
