Dude. I'm not saying that Brians engine died simply because he had Nos. I'm saying that Nos accelerates main cap death for some reason.Originally posted by Fenix
Theres a lot more to it than just saying Nitrous will make an engine go pop.
As Chip says it all depends on what brand kit he was using, whether it was a wet or dry system, did his engine have unknown problems to begin with that extra power highlighted, what size jets was he using.
You can't just simply say it was the Nitrous and thats it.
Nitrous will give you the same problems as any other power increase if you don't think it through properly.
In the time i've been looking at nitrous the only other roadcar apart from TFS's i've heard of going pop was a 2l16v nova which by the sounds of things hadn't been run in properly after a piston change when he decided to put 75+ bhp of nitrous through an already tuned engine.
I have looked at Nos and read the WON site and lots of other articles about it (what I used to do when I wasn't posting in the time wasting at work thread ).
I've been to Brians home. I've seen the cally. And if I was wanting to gain 100+bhp by just adding some gas then there is no way on gods green earth I would even consider a dry system unless it was controlled by the ECU which could add more fuel at the same time.
I understand the physics of it all and dry systems are just asking for trouble.
