Anyone know anything about Traction Control on Coupe Turbo ?
Well Regal want £120 to fit the button, Courtenay want £95.
Courtenay are 140 miles away from me, and Regal are about the same.
Seem's a long way for me to go, when it should be fairly simple to do yourself.
The TC button from Vx is £10. Surely it can't be that complex to wire up ?
I have managed to find out the shorting pin 31 on the ECU multiway connector will disable TC & ABS.
Courtenay have said that their fittment, will allow it to be turned on and off.
Not so sure about Regal, but I would guess there's can as well.
So if I do it myself, I will be able to turn it off, but not back on without ignition reset.
Does anyone know if there is a pin on the ECU/Multiway to toggle it on or off, or does anyone have a wiring diagram for ECU ?
Is there a web site anywhere which has details of the ECU & wiring ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I will even PAY for the information !
Any updates on this , or will I have to try and contact Chris from Regal to see if he will help !
Well, congratulations for having the b*llocks to try it yourself.
On the Vectra the switch itself merely grounds one of the wires of the tc/abs ecu.
I know that on Vectra-sport.com is was a common question of whether or not fitting a switch from the mk1 Vectra (vectra B with black top bumpers) into the facelifted Vectra B (with the colour coded bumpers) would give the ability to switch the TC on and off.
Also on the Vectra, there's no relay to latch, so pressing it once will ground the wire (pin 10 of the abs/tc ecu) and light the tc light on the dash. Pressing it again will have the opposite effect.
Are you grounding the wire with the engine running ? and if so, have you tried ungrounding it again while the engine is still running ?
i thought about this myself and did find a link to a wiring diagam but looked vv tricky! must admit cant remember where but could be on http://translate.google.com/translat...tra-coupe.net/
(a badly translated german site!)

I have had a reply from the author of the website including how to on TC Button fitting.
There needs to be 3 wire's connected to the TC Button.
1st Wire is to Pin 25 on the ABS Connector.
2nd Wire is to Ground.
3rd Wire is power for the switch.
The switch light's up to show TC is disabled as well as showing on dash.
It would now seem that the hardest bit is running the wire from the ABS connector through to the car. Then possibly mouting the button in the panel.
I will get the button from the VX dealer on Wedneday next week so will be giving it a try maybe next weekend.
i thought it was a lot more complex than that, i seemed to remember the power steering was aso controlled by that fuse? could be wrong. let us know how it goes!
I am not touching the fuse box.
The Traction control system works in conjunction with the ABS. You connect the switch into the ABS connector under the bonnet.
The new Astra GSI has the same setup as the coupe turbo, it's just that VX decided to connect up a switch on the GSI.
I am definetly going to do this now, will post up exact details when I have completed.
cheers, hope it goes well mate
Have you managed to do this yet?
