Some of you might remember my old thread about this from 3 weeks ago, if not read this
The rev counter on my Calibra Turbo 4x4 has stooped working and the 4x4 light stays on all the time but when I check the fault codes there is no fault code stored?
Received my replacement ECU yesterday and still the problem is there, so I got out my digital mutimeter and checked everything that I could.
I checked all the wires that go into and come out of the 4x4 ECU and all of them have a strong signal so I then checked the engine speed signal wire that comes from the Motronic ECU (pin 43 IIRC) the green wire and again this has a strong signal, I then checked every fuse and all the pins in the Motronic ECU but they are all fine.
By now I was very angry and I gave the dash a heavy handed slap and to my amazement I heard the 4x4 acumalator (the black ball with the white ring) go "whoosh", thought to my self that this is odd so I then switch the ignition off and then on and press the brake pedal "whoosh" thats the noise that I just heard when I slapped the dash so I slap the dash again and again it goes "whoosh".
Tried this about another 10 times and every time I slap my dash above the rev-counter the accumalator goes "whoosh" so I thought F**K this its time to take the clocks out and have a look, could not remove the clocks completeley but I could move them enough to see that the wires were plugged into the clocks perfectley and there was no broken or burnt wires and if I now slapped the dash with the clocks moved there was no whoosh so I put it all back together and tried slapping the dash and guess what happened..............................................it went "whoosh" again so now I am fully lost and thats were you guys come in.
Need as much ideas/solutions as possible as I have spent loads on the car but if this problem carries on and nobody can solve it I will sell the Calibra and buy something Japanese, I know this is a long thread but I really like my Calibra and I would be gutted if it came to selling it but I cannot stand 320bhp and FWD
Also on John A's website in the wiring harness book/link it states that there is a relay for the engine speed signal but it states that it is under the bonnet in the relay box/compartment and my Calibra does not have a relay box/compartment so where is it on my car???
