the 1.9 will rev to 9 grand ok, briefly, I wouldn't sit at that speed for any length of time. The later cranks are not as strong.
With a steel crank etc the 1.9 will pump out 300 bhp at 10krpm.
250bhp is the figure most aim for which with a decent head and fuelign will happen between 8 and 8.5 krpm on a stock bottom end.
The engine was also turbocharged in frog land, never mad eit over here or it may have, cannae mind.
Cast block weighs a ton thats the main prob.
The renault F7P is a good engine as well, main prob is the bore and stroke, a cack stroke of 83.5 and a bore of 82.7 so they are only safe to about 8500rpm, most aftermarket ecu's bump the limiter to 8/8.5 k on these engines. Redline as standard is a 7krpm where the limiter cuts in. Its a superior unit to the williamsF7R/megane F7R, the P has bore sprays etc.
The Saab B202 is safe to over 8 grand as well, 90mm bore, 78mm stroke, now thats an oversquare engine.
