I have a oil leak from my head gasket on my GSi. Mine is fitted with a catted C16SE engine. I have a modded E16SE head with a Piper cam and I'd like to fit it to the C16SE injection manifold and block etc.
The only problem I can see instanly is the E16SE has a mechanical EGR system on it which has a port built into the head, the C16SE does not. Now this can be welded up with no problems to over come this.
Are there any other differences that anyone else knows of? Im thinking along the lines on port shape on the inlet manifold (square/round type problem) not sure on spec with out stripping it.
The only reason was I bought a complete E16SE engine for my old GSi which was pre CAT.
My new GSi which is a late 93 with CAT has a C16SE engine in it. I can put the E16SE engine in my new Nova and it wont have to have a CAT test for the MOT as im using an older engine. Thing is the head gasket has sprung an oil leak and while ive got the head off i'd like to fit my E16SE head as its been ported etc to see if it boosts my power a bit as I wont be ready to fit the entire engine until next year, when Im planning to junk the injection and fit twin 40's.
