We arranged time and place with AET, but they insisted that I buy a new turbo from them, or else!
Predictably, they ended the conversation rather unglamorously.
I feel sorry for them, they want to believe that they've got decades experience etc etc...and they don't have a bleedin clue.
I was talking to a competitor of theirs, and he said that there is an issue with some 'so-called' turbo remanufacturers in that they don't know about some basic tolerances that need to be checked.
The common symptoms he described were exactly like mine. I didn't tell him the name of AET, and he agreed that he wouldn't want to know (being professional competitors and all...)
I'll have them collect the damn thing on Monday, and we'll see how they do. If they do get it right, I'll post their name here.
In the meantime, I've got (most of) the AET saga on my website, under 'Gotchas'.
It makes fun reading, although the telephone conversations are missing, especially the last one - that was hilarious, he hung up quite angry when I mentioned sending the turbo to somebody elselmao
