Is 1200 quid is the going rate for a Turbo motor and ECU?
What about building a cheaper/better one from an XE??
What exhaust manifold do people use when doing this conversion?
Manifold wise, is there a better (ie, cheaper than Vx, and/or more power) one available than the Std Cav/Cal turbo?? Anyone selling one (std or otherwise)? How much do they go for...
If you keep the standard XE cams, then the overlap could be too much, and the fuel might get blown straight out of the exhaust by the turbo... Also, the exhaust duration might be too much, killing off ability to drive the turbo hard. Any one done a conversion???
Can we keep std cams???
Traditional thought is that the compression needs lowering, and the cams changing. Would it be beneficial to aim for slightly higher compression than the 9.0:1 of the LET, or a bit less???
ECU wise, we could use and MBE. Expensive, but if we are running dodgy non standard CR and boost, it may give us a bit more control over things...
As an aside, has anyone tried green injectors with the standard Bosch 2.7 ECU in a 2.0 LET???
OK, so this looks like 2K, even with a 20XE Costcast, BUT, the turbo lump would probably need some work anyway... And this could be a lot more power, with green injectors and an MBE system. Thoughts/experinces please???
