URGENT: I snapped an Exhaust bolt on my Cally Turbo. What should i do?
I snapped one of the 2 bolts that go to the downpipe of the turbo. What would be the best thing to do? Will i be able to drill it out in place from underneath? I dont fancy taking it off cos i havent got a replacement gasket and knowing my luck id end up snapping one of the bolts that goes into the turbo.
Please help cos i need the car for Billing.
First of all they are not bolts - they may look like bolts if they are seized up!
They are studs and nuts.
Can't you use a stud extractor to get it out?
That round gasket (asbestos by the looks of it) is cheap and reusable too.
You should have soaked the nuts in WD40 for a while before attempting to dismantle them
I assume you mean the gasket between the turbo and the head when you say can you re-use it if you take it off ? I wouldn't as they're only about £13.
You could drill the stud out, not bother re-threading and use bolts with a nut instead of the studs and nuts.
the gasket i mean is the one between the turbo elbow downpipe thing and the turbo there are from what i can see 6 bolts holding it on to the turbo. The stud i snapped is at the other end of that pipe where the exhaust is held onto by 2 studs/nuts.
