i fitted a 2L XE to my cavalier sri 130. there was one small coolant pipe left over, it comes out of the inlet man just above the alternater, had no-where for it to go so i blocked it off. ok for about a week when i noticed a load of light brown gunky oil in the coolant. good one! i got the right expansion tank with the bit for the pipe to go on and connected it up but it is now loosing coolant and theres still loads of oily stuff in there which keeps coming back. sounds like head gasket i know, but i had it skimmed and new gasket b4 i put the eng in, the eng oil is clean and its not really using any, no misfire when it starts in the morn and it runs fine. crayzee. wondering if by blocking that pipe off i damaged something or maybe there is something wrong with the head? i thought the coscast ones were cool though. could it be something to do with the breathers? i dunno, been racking my brain but to no avail. can anyone help?
Cheers. thats what i thought, porus or gasket, but its coscast head, i thought they weren't sposed to go porus? and i did the gasket when i had it skimmed and it started doing it after like 100 miles and has been the same ever since, not getting any worse which is y i thought maybe i had it plumbed up wrong but i aint sure see, so i dont wanna take head off, do loads of checking and be the same when i put it back on
dont think so but cos i never saw the doner car & where all the pipes went we had to compare it to a friends astra gsi. not sure if they're the same. but the smaller breather on the cam cover goes down onto like a t piece under the throttle body with 2 coolant hoses going in and out (one of which i had blocked off initialy) from the inlet man to the exp tank. could this be where the oils getting in? nothing is coming out of the breather but i put a bottle on the larger one a couple of days ago and its almost half full of water, bit of oil not much & only done about 250 miles! is that right? cheers
