Im just fitting my replacment transfer box now and i noticed before that the replacement box i have has a 1 wire temp sensor and my old one had a 2 wire temp sensor. I thought that the temp sensors could be swapped over but i didnt realise that they were actually different sizes till now. What can i do to get around this? Will the one wire sensor work on my car?
Cheers. What causes the box to get hot then. Is it just the difference in rolling radius'. Is there anyway i could fit a different temperature sensor so i could monitor the tempetature myself and switch it accordingly?
I think you're the wrong way around for one of cav16's adaptors, ie you have a small threaded whole and need a big sensor to fit, obviously the otherway around is easy sorted.
I think the temp sensor shuts down the 4x4 0.00001 miliseconds before it explodes anyway.
I'm sure you could in the same way after maket oil temp sensors are fitted. I'm not sure what "normal" temp would be though, excessive heat would probably be caused by something internally being faulty anyway.
Yes Cav16 do the conversion both ways, yes it is desirable to have one fitted, and yes a transfer box without any oil in it will give up before it temperature is detected. Poses a question, how did the txb loose its own oil, as in how did it get out?
