X20XEV + auto box conversion > mk3 Astra?
I know that on some models like the CDX, you could get the 2.0 16v Ecotec engine with an automatic gearbox.
I was wondering; my car is a 1.4i 8v auto (C14SE engine), how easy would it be to fit the 2.0 Ecotec?
Presumably I would need engine/AF20 gearbox/engine & gearbox ECUs? Would I need anything else to do the conversion?
You rearly need an engine ecu loom from an 20XEV that's from an auto in the first place to make it a good and stress free installation.
Does that just plug in to whatever loom is in the dash?
Presumably the engine will just go straight in, won't need any modified engine mounts or anything?
The gearbox loom needs to plug into the ecu loom.
If the ecu loom isn't from an auto there won't be a plug to plug the gearbox loom into or any wires.
It's used to retard the ignition during gear changes, throttle position, coolant temp etc.
So if you get the correct 20XEV ENG ECU loom from an auto it should just plug in
So as long as I get the engine/gearbox/loom from an automatic Astra, it should be fine? Also, this combo is also found on the Cavalier and Calibra, would the engine and auto box etc. be OK from one of them, or does it have to specifically be from an Astra?
Yeah a cav or cally one will also be upto the job.
