Just been on the AutoVaux website to get the price of a crank sensor but it has 2 listed and it states that they are both for a speed signal.
It also lists a camshaft sensor for the revs signal, is this correct?
So could this be the reason why my rev-counter is not working? http://www.autovaux.co.uk/StockList.asp?carID=57&cat=21
AVEL61 Sensor - Camshaft Rev's £29.95
AVEL62 Sensor - Crankshaft Speed £21.95
AVEL63 Sensor - Crankshaft Speed £37.95

Hmmmm I don't know about the different crank sensor's but the camshaft sensor is used to determine when to fire the injectors, Sequential (sp?) injection.
I think anyway?
Anybody else got any gen?
your gonna have to ask them.
if those parts are both for 20XE then i can only guess that one is the metal earlier type, and one is late plastic type.
alternatively, one could be XE one could be ecotec.
my mate just had a new cranks sensor for his eco vectra, that was 40 quid.
Yes i wil give them a call tomorrow, but it says that the camshaft sensor gives the rev-signal???
Is that right because my rev-counter has stopped working?
that picture on their site means nothing to me, looks nothing like what i consider to be a XE/LET hall sensor, i.e that plug on the side of the dizzy.
bit of a head scratcher.
Is the camshaft sensor not the sensor behind the cam cover on the ecotecs that always goes wrong?
well spotted that man. it is indeed an ecotec (1.8 and 2.0 eco) cam sensor
