    Unhappy intercooler/charge cooler.... again!!

im starting to lose faith in finding a mistsi evo 6 intercooler for my nova so i was toying with the idea of a chargecooler? ive read a few bak threads but dont realy understand!
the nova will be on either phase 3.5 or v max evo 5 kit so it needs to be ok to run the 1.5bar over boost.
lastly does any one know rough prices? i take it charge coolers are
    cheers

Dan go for a intercooler, a chargecooler is ok but IMHO a intercooler would be better. One company said if i was using a chargecooler i would need water injection as well as the charge cooler to get the boost temp to a level where i can run phase 3 safely. Rick

go for a chargecooler if u want to - you will probably want an extra tank in there as they seem to come with a very small (half litre or something) reservoir, and its all about having enough water in the system so it doesnt get really hot during a long drive.
check out Pace - googlesearch> pace chargecooler.

You will have to locate the water radiator at the front, but its a lot more subtle and smaller than a large Interooler if stealth is your game.

Have a look on the forge motorsport web site, they have some tasty intercoolers which would make a great front mount conversion, and the prices arnt to bad either. I'll be putting one on my calibra soon.

Cossie 4wd intercooler is good for 350 bhp, readily available and costs about 70-80 quid.

I am just going to put some fineish size mesh over my Evo 6 FMIC.

The FMIC has been used for a while now and has gone a dark grey colour, so some mesh should hide it nicely.

I ain't going to have a huge big mouth like I did before, going to a small big mouth GSi but leave the top of the mouth bit open to get more air to the intercooler.

I coped fine with my pace chargecooler, I have since got a FMIC too, but ran with just the chargecooler for a year with no problems.

    MK1 GTE :)
im running 290bhp with standard intercooler and a pace chargecooler and everything is fine, im putting nos on in a week and they have told me i still don't need to upgrade my intercooler.

i would say the a chargecooler is better but it works better with water injection, i think some where on here some one shows how to make your own cheap chargecooler and water injection but i just cant seem to find it at the moment.
    cheers, Rob

I dont know how good that single core pace chargecooler is, but its about 450 which seems ok.

reliability is obviously better on the intercooler as it doesnt have loads of hoses and a pump to fail.

The good thing about WI is you can change the jet or injection boost setting if it isnt cooling enough.

If your after a custom sized intercooler to fit in a gap thats already in the bumper then give this guy a try at .

    www.grsmotorsport.co.uk

prices seem good aswell - theres a quite complex and big icooler for a XR4x4 twin turbo - custom and the price is down as 330

I'm ringing to get a quote on a large fmic for my cav turbo later.
bigger than the ones available and keep the fogs !
If the price is right that is !!!

the charge cooler i was looking at was a twin core type! if i was to run it and buy a custom rad for and place it behind my grill so it can get loads of air should this be ok? a few peps have stated water injection but if i dont have to run it i wont cos as i said im bloody skint now and this is the last thing i need to complete the engine!

dunno if it would work, but a friend of mine suggested putting a tank(insulated) in the boot, pump, and having a washer jet or2 spraying cold water onto the ic?

Was just looking into that myself !!!

Subaru use them on the STI models - the water needs to be really finely misted tho to be effective I think !

seen a one kit but is about 250 from a well known over priced R5 turbo tuners !!!!

Anyone know of any other companys offering the same type of kits ?

just think how cool the nozzles would look on a fmic spraying a nice cool mist !!!!!!!!!

    Wicked !!! lmao
