Right, took some of the XE apart to do abit more investigating and came across this…
Look's like the Seal? Has started to come away. Is this normal and I'd be right in saying best to replace it?
The cambelt doesn't look that old at all, But obviously will be replaced. Had all four plug's out again just to double check and everyone look's spot on, nice light Grey/brown deposit's, double electrode plugs, these standard plug's for the XE?
As u can see from the above pic, Someone was either in a hurry or couldn't be bothered when they were taking the engine out!
Wasn't sure what head it had, but after reading afew post's and guide's ppl have done it's definitely a KS head!
Had a look at the throttle and still not sure what ppl mean about modding the spindle to increase airflow!?! Anyone explain it to me in layman's term's maybe a couple a pic's of a modded one would help.
Started working out what the plan of action is, everything look's pretty good from what I've seen/ checked so far. Depending on what I find when I take the sump off, I thought…
1. ARP Bolt's
2. SBD uprated oil pump internal's
3. SBD relief valve
4. New water pump
5. SBD uprated Manifold (does this come with lambda boss already to fit the Lambda sensor?)
6. Do the breather mod
Any more suggestion's/idea's I can do fiddle/tinker with while I'm getting to grip's with the engine!?!
