Hi there peeps.
I have a question regarding the oil pressure in my TD astra (well valver astra estate as it happens LOL)
Smetimes the oil light on the dash works other times it doesn't. However, sometimes it works when it shouldn't!!! TAke the car along the road, come to idle, sometime the light wil come on/off on/off, etc, and as you would think, pump or bearings shagged. Well, I have got the oil as hot as I can be put the car under heavy load, (ie 120mph for sustained periods, on my driveway off course). I can bring the car to a dead stop ie at the roundabout off the motorway, and the light will not come on, not even flicker, wich you would think with a ****ed pump and/or bearings. Yet, sometimes, it will come on, after normal driving when you stop at traffic lights in town. Does this suggest pump/bearings or faulty switch? bear in mind the light sometimes doesn't even come on on startup.
parts are 145 quid, (bearings, pump, mains, and sump gasket)
what do you think. They is no noise of knocking (as you would expect at about 7/8psi or whetever the light comes on at). The car runs perfectly, no noises it shouldn't have etc.
So your opinions please...
