car starts ok every morning when temperature gauge reaches 82 degrees engine misfires for a moment then engine management light comes on. i stop the engine then restart it and then it is ok for the rest of the day no problems whatsoever until the following day then it does the same again any ideas please ps this has been happening for about a week now.

temperture related problems can commanly point to a faulty or lazy CTS (coolant temp sensor), they are £7 from BOSCH or £20 from VX dealer, 5 min to change. Or go to a local scrappy as they are a VERY common part on all VX, pick a VX car and take the CTS out, it has a good chance on fitting your engine (2-pin CTS).

true, it could be this too. But I have heard it can be the Ectoec ECU loom with bad shilding. I got a new CAS for £40 (C20XE/LET), VX want £80!
I would look at the CTS plug and wiring loom first (as it can rub on the alt belt).
