Twin 45s on XE
Converting an XE to 45s do i need a new tank to replace the one used for injection I know you have to replace when changing from carbs to injection, does it work going back?
Can all the wiring be binned as it alls goes to the ECU and that won't be needed on carbs right?
What else will I need except the carbs and an appropraite inlet manifold?
Disclaimer - Excuse my ignorance I know f all about the subject and do not mind admitting it thats why I ask!
SBD sell intank fuel pumps for carb conversions iirc
Facet are a big name in aftermarket pumps.
May be easier if the car ur transplanting the engine into existed as a carb'd model like 1.3 astra mk2 etc etc , thereby getting the tank and lines from this.
Fuel lines shouldnt need to be replaced though as only if converting to injection this should be done as the carb lines will burst under the high pressure of the injection fuel pump.
You can bin almost all of the wiring, youll just need a basic wiring setup like any carb'd car to control ignition.
Youll need a cav 1.6 big block dissy to control the sparks.
And ideally an electronic spark control method like Weber Alpha.
Youll also need a big wallet as an xe on carbs drinks like an alcoholic in a distillery especially when giving it some!
