I bought the Nova as a non runner and have fitted a replacement engine (i have never heard this engine run)
I've no spark(i've tryed changing the coil)
the management light is not coming on when you
switch the ignition on, but you can hear the fuel pump priming,
when you have finished turning over the engine(leaving the ignition lights on) it sounds as if the fuel pump is trying to
prime again, has anyone got any ideas whats wrong??
The engine that came out had head gasket gone and had been to
the moon and back! The replacement engine has only done 75K and had new head gasket ETC but it'd been removed from the car before i bought it so i never heard it run.
I had the same thing when I replaced the head gasket on my Nova GTE. fitted everything back, all looked fine, turned the key, spins over, fuel pump sounds like its working but not firing. Found out that I forgot to plug in the HES on the dizzy...DOH!
Plugged it in, fired up first time.
So check the HES sensor and its connections, without it, the ECU dosn't know where TDC and hence won;t give a spark out.
Thanks for your replys,
Its seems as if the coils not not getting any power as i did try
putting a plug in the end of the king lead and its not sparking,
Could the fact that i've no management light .have any bearing
on the fact that the coil not sparking??
Just check that the ECU check bulb hasnt gone.
Try the ecu, coil, coil module and dizzy one by one from the old engine to see if anything makes a difference.
If the ecu light doesnt come on and the bulb is ok it sounds like a fecked ecu,its not something simple like the ecu fuse blown?
The fuel pump relay is easy to find, look at my engine bay above, look where the battery lives, the relay and fuse is sitting on the metal ridge that runs across the engine bay. Inspect the fuse and relay conections.
The fuel pump relay contols 12v to
1) fuel pump
3) heater in OS if iftted
so if the fuel pump relay or fuse goes, then the car will never fire, but the starter motor will still spin over.
