My Cav 4x4 turbo has suddenly started to cut out on idle. It doesn't do it all the time (thankfully), but enough to make driving it unpleasant.
Basically, once the engine is hot, as you slow down to stop at a junction etc. the revs die and sometimes the engine cuts out. It always restarts straight away, but it's a real pain.
It has been at a Vauxhall dealer for three weeks now, while they investigate. They have checked for air leaks and fixed them, they have replaced the idle air control valve, the injectors have all been cleaned and set up, there are no error codes in the computer and fuel pressure is what it should be.
It is modified which doesn't help the dealer much I guess, as their data is only for non-modified cars. Incase it helps, the engine mods are: superchipped, uprated boost pressure, hybrid turbo, rising fuel pressure regulator, dump valve.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the problem? The dealer now suspects the ECU. I am taking my original chips back to them tomorrow!
It's funny you should say that. Yes, I do have an after market dump valve. It was supplied by Regal many years ago. I took the original chips to the dealer today. they put them in, and the car performed much better. They said it was faster than with the Superchips! However, it was still cutting out. They disconnected the dump valve, and hey presto - it appears to be working. They have kept it over night to test drive from cold tomorrow.
Let's hope it is sorted. thanks for your advice.
