Is this possible with the engine in the car or is it going to be acomplete nightmare?
I'm going to be fitting my XE coscast head onto my LET as my headgasket looks to be leaking ever so slightly on the bottom corner of the head under the dizzy. The LET has a GM head so might as well swap it. I am presuming there is a headgasket failure due to the water appearing around the edge?
What is the best headgasket to use? Engine is standard and going to remain standard. Is it worth fitting a steel headgasket or a waste of money, I just don't want to be changing the bloody thing often?
I have done my head gasket twice on my nova turbo and left the engine in. All i do is take the rad out remove the exhust manifold and all the corresponding pipes/ feeds. Disconnect the pipes to the underneath the inlet manifold and lift the head and inlet off as one. The timing aint so bad to do in the car either.
How do u mean lee by water appearing around the edge?
I have got a steel headgasket on from wallace performance Just incase my driving messes a standard one up. If you want to use a standard one use a vauxhall gasket.
On the edge where the head meets the head gasket on the corner under the dizzy I have a bit of water appearing. Looks like its coming from between the head and the headgasket. Also car is running to hot for my liking and i'm paranoid that i'm going to do damage to it so was going to do headgasket.
if u constantly wipe the water away and it keeps reappearing then it sounds like ur head is leaking. Just start the car and wipe the water away make sure its coming from there not just dripping from somewhere else. If it does appear all the time it sounds to me if the head is leaking.
