have bought a carlton 2ltr and am gonna transplant the engine into my astra 1.8 cdi has anyone done this conversion? what problems am i gonna run into? I bought a complete car so i'd have the loom aswell, am wondering about things like throttle cables engine mounts fuel pressure i havent picked the carlton up yet so i don't know if the mounts will be in the same place(which i doubt) or if i can transfer them from my original engine any tips would be appreciated also has anyone got pic's of the mattig kit on a astra mk2

I have, but you won't like it.
Sell both, buy 2.0 standard astra.
Carlton is rwd so engine sits different (longt instead of transverse) so carlton mounts might not be of any use.
Anyway, this'll bump the thread so someone might be able to steer you in the right direction.
(but I'd start with a standard 2.0 astra)
haha yeah i know its mad but i picked the astra up for £50 because the engie was on its way out (crank gone bad oil pressure) but all the body work is in exellent condition and have fallen for the car so its become a project, i was hoping that the engine in the carlton would have the holes in the block for the mounts as i realise they are rwd but i guess i'll have to wait and see cheers anyway matey
i think it should bolt sraight in it will be the ser 2.0 like what they used in the 2.0 8v gte astra, the 1.8 and 2.0 share the same block so you should have no problems, just use the 1.8 mounts and gearboxand it should go in easy!
