I've been reading through lots of past posts to see what other people have thought about this before and most seem to leave the manifold and go for a 'better' turbo.
I don't know anything about ehxaust gas flow but I am reasonably confident in saying that the LET manifold isn't very good. Out of cylinders 1, 2 and 4 and straight into a right angle and then all joining as cylinder 3 which surprisingly (NOT) seems to melt more often than any of the others.
Courtney do a manifold of a very similar design for a T3 I believe but apart from that I can't find any mention of anyone who makes manifolds (better manifolds) for the LET. So the custom route (Aka The Furburger) appears the only one available.
Looking at my engine bay though, there is no way Rob's manifold is going to fit in my car. The fan cowling misses the turbo as it is by only an inch
The whole reason I'm thinking about manifolds at all is because of Turbo choices. The best KKK Turbo I can find mention of is the KKK26 (the full one) and it seems to be about £1200. But then I look at a T3 at roughly the same spec and its £400ish. So I was thinking that rather than get a great turbo and mount it on a manifold that already has problems, it would be better to get a decent manifold first.
So what options really are there?
