Sealant on the oil pump to block face?

The pump is leaking on a C16XE. Getting a bit annoyed with it now.

Tried two different gaskets now, both the later metal type. Various torque settings from the Haynes/TIS 4 lb ft, up to 10 lb ft.

Got a tube of the Vaux RTV thats worked wonders on the other bits and it's calling out for the pump. Worth a try?
Of course would have to be extra careful so as it doesn't get picked up by the pump. But even a thin layer seems fine on cam caps and whatnot.

it'llwork but its a bit of a bodge, either the oil pump or the block face must be warped or damaged in some way to cause the leak
