Running a Cavalier '93 1.6 LSi, SPi, everything as standard.
The problem is that the emissions are high (3.4 I think was mentioned), also when the car has been ticking over for a few moments, then you rev it sharply, a plume of black smoke puffs out.
The Cat was changed last year as the old one had done 130K.
The car drives sound too and from work ('bout 7 miles) apart from when I 'thrash it' when it seems to choke up. I changed the coolant sensor last year after the old one packed up.
I have changed everything obvious like the plugs, filters, cap leads & arm.
If anyone has had experience with this kinda problem I would appreciate your advise
Oh yeh I get about 160 miles on £20 of fuel 'round town
Had the ECU scanned, although it's a C16NZ engine, the reader would only connect to a C16NZ2 data base??
Anyways, all the sensors were giving the O.K signs, apart from it switching between the Rich/Lean settings, also it give the verdict of 'open circuit'.
Although I swapped the Lamba, TPV (pentometer) & the coolant sensor It still gave a rich reading.
