Just bought a Calli Red Top on a K the only fault is that its ticking over at just over 2000 r.p.m. Is there anything I can do or has it got to go on the computer at £60 a throw and my local one is s--t
Any help appreciated Cheers
checked for air leaks all seems ok cleaned the throttle body butterflies ect. butterfly in the fully closed position so throttle cable set up right. so it loks like its the idle control valve next anyone know how much these cost? cheers
This is now getting to me have tried all suggestions and doubled checked again.Fitted idle control valve today, tested before fitting worked o.k. old was sticking. But low and behold rpm now over 2000. Could it be the throttle switch? it clicks when you shut the throttle to the closed position so I assume it works. Any more help appreciated.
Right heres nearly the end to the matter. I thought long and hard and realised that the replacement engine fitted by the previous owner was an earlier version, the one that runs a dizzie and a hot wire air mass meter and motronic m2.5 injection system. Taking into account that he had used all the later bits i.e. hot film air mass meter and power block intead of a dizzie obviously to match the later wiring loom, I concluded it must be something he,d had not changed so I checked out the throttle switch and although the electrical connection were the same I decided to check to see if the later set up was different , it was so after buying the later part I tried to fit it. It was set at a different angle and the air box was unable to seat on top of the throttle body which meant the flat on the throttle body shaft is a different angle. Anyway I managed to modify it and got it back together and the tickover is as it should be. Sorry to go on a bit but I just thought this information might be of use to members when swapping second hand engines.
So if anyone out there has got a later type throttle body I,ll be interested as I would rather have the correct one.
