right, in the middle of your engine bay, you will have the main ECU loom connections, this is the large multiplug, that goes into the ECU. you basically have to cut this off, and use the wires from that, and the smaller flat plug i will take a pic when i get home showing which wires you use, there are a load you dont need, to do with the immobilisor etc...
i haven't touched the astra ecu plug it's plug straight into the astra ecu,but i have a round connection in the engine bay i need 2 wire in i've got my oil light,(!) brake light, and anouther red light, lighting up on my dash the engine turns over, but the fuel pump isn't responding so i'm assumin it isn't wired in correctly,i've changed the fuel pump over 2 my old 1 which deffo worked and still nothing so it rules out a dodgy fuel pump, also my car has eps which i understand is the green wire from the corsa loom 2 the green astra rev counter wire, and i have no ecu light lightin up on the dash
sorry mate, its pi$$ing down with rain at the moment. will try and get pics tommorrow. you want to use the starting / charging / speed sensor loom from the 1.0 12v, it has a grey connector on the end of it, use that on the 16v engine. the round connector on the 16v loom you can loose, and just use the squarer one, wire that srait into where the old ecu went, pretty much matching colour for colour. i will post pics when it stops raining
all i have from the gte engine is a round plug on the right hand side on top of the gear box, then on the left hand side i have a big black loom comin from the side of the block striaght into the ecu(inside the car)so do i wire the round right hand plug into the wiring of the left side of the gte engine,on my corsa loom comin from the left side of the bulk head i have a 2 pin plug,4 pin plug and anouther 4 pin plug, then i have a multiplug with about 6/7 wires in which use 2 clip in next 2 my fuel rail on the 1.0 engine
i have a square plug connected up off the astra loom which is also on top of the gear box(is this the square 1 you mean the 1 with a big red wire, thin red/blue,green,and 2 others
nah, the problem with installing another engine in this car, is that the engine loom and the car loom are intergrated, abit like the nova SRi, but not wuite in the same way... the only proper way of installing a new engine in it is to buy a loom from the likes of a corsa SRi this is whati am kind of thinking of doing.
yeah.... it isnt hard once you find the wires you want.... another anoying thing about the corsa loom is... because of the imobilisor there are about 5 red/blue wires... confusing huh.... my reason for replacing the loom is it saves alot of fookin about. you can get another engine to work with the 12v loom, but it is a bit of a bodge!
yeh i agree i've replaced my 1.2i loom in my nova with a 1.4sr one to loose all the unneeded stuff..... but if dan hacks the loom in an attempt to make it work it could take hours to figure out what is wrong or right.... i won't mention some of the hellish wiring i've had so sort before..... dickos fire damaged and modded with all red wire loom!! nova 16v loom that had been stabbed by one of the soundproofing studs then caught fire!! and i've custom made my own 16v loom so the coil is inside the car!!
yeah, IMHO the sr loom is probably one of the best to start with, you only really need to run one extra wire for the fuel pump, and its sorted.... when i re-did jhonnos GSi loom, i had it like that on the floor in my room, took out all the wires i didnt need, and spliced in an astra loom where needed... im helping put a LET in an SRi soon, im hoping the wiring on that shouldnt be too much of a mission... again, once you find the wires you want ur fine, but the problem is all the old bits of loom that are nolonger needed.
one more point for dan... dont forget that you will need to change your clocks as well, as they will only be for a 3 cylinder engine, and so will over read the revs. if you PM dom, he will probably be able to sort you out with a module to convert the 4cyl signal into 3cyl
it's ok now,i've sorted it my self not to much work i just needed to tap a few fuel pump wires from the astra injection relay to my fuel pump relay all works fine now,got all lights on the dash except my eps light which i belive is the green wire from the corsa loom, still figureing where 2 connect it,lol
