Piece of piss apart from the wiring.

    whats involvd?
Take struts off. Take subrame off, support engine and gear box. Undo engine mounts, Drop whole lot under the car. Refit in reverse order using F25box, V6 engine and V6 shafts. Everything else fits.

Mod slam panel for rad to sit under it.

    Jobs a goodun.

Then you have to sort the wiring out. Pull out old loom through bulhead, fit new ECU and loom. The you have to wire up the starting/charging loom from current Engine to V6.

PhilAstraSport and AndyK wired up my car. They said it was easy, but then again, they actually work with electronics anyway!!

wiring is also a pece of piss. pm me and will give you the colours. when time comes.

you could use origional box if it's f20/18 with a xe flywheel..

put engine in through top of car.(bonnet off)

you will need an F25 the manual that the v6 needs, best try and get this with the v6 when you buy it

the car will be quicker and the power and torque will be very noticeable

the times i am not sure of but then it iwll be quicker than your ecotec

    0-60 in a Cav is 7.3 Seconds.

Your Astra will be about 15% lighter so Sub 7 seconds may just be possible.

Top speed about the same as the cav, given that drag coefficients are very similar ~ 147

Handling, front end will be a lot heavier, so back end may become accordingly light.

Front end will sit lower (like the V6 Cav does), so again more weight shifted to the front wheels.

You can use an F18, but you'll need to space the engine mount on the OS wing by 20mm.

You'll need to swap the flywheel and clutch for your F18 one.

    Mk3 Astra (again)
this is a VERY worthwile conversion...

does make front end heavy (but that only improves traction )

as mark said top speed would be about 147 (but it doesn't struggle to get there ) i'm using an F20 gearbox and flywheel, and GSi driveshafts.

when i get my car back, i'll be taking it up to santa pod very soon to get some 1/4 times although my engine isn't standard

if you are seriously considering it, i have a spare V6 engine, loom, F25 gearbox, driveshafts & ECU.

Gareth, did you make up the offset mounts? I am still thinking F28 at the moment.

    Pump mouting brackets?

So with all that lot in, how much did you offset the engine mounts by? Are you using V6 shafts as well?

Did you do any other mods to it?

yea+h si used the bracket that mounts the diesel pump tho the engine off a ford.. the offst is about 30mm or so used the origional box from the vec with origional shafts.

oh vec box was fecked so took the diff and gears from a cav and transplanted them into the veccy bell housing all works fine.. f18 as well.

f20 diff and gears going in there soon tho.

You'll be needin some decent front shocks too, doubt your original ones will last too long with the fat v6 lump sitting on them

Do you still have the balancer shaft in the middle then?

Would appreciate some pics please. I wonder if I could reuse my F25 shafts.

    MarkCDXv6, over to you.

Nope, F28 mate. 6 speed box.

I thought the whole idea of offsetting the engine was so that by adding the big block gear box F28 you were not putting straign on the CV's of the V6 shafts.

Having looked at an F16 and F25 at the scrappy this weekend, the Diff sits in the same place, so the Rear mount is the same place, and the driveshafts are the same length.

This means, that you only need the OS Wing mount offestting 20mm, and the Intermediate shafte bracket offsetting 20mm the other way, to keep the F25 driveshafts.

Or you could look at the F28 Intemedate shaft bracket, to see if that would be in the right place.

Mmmmmm, not sure I understand. Maybe I'm being a dunce. But sure you need to offset all engine mounts of the whole lot is gonna be shifted one way or another.
