LET rocker cover breather
I tried putting a crankcase breather on me LET to see if it would breathe easier.
So far, it seems to send pungent oil fumes out the breather mod (including the wee filter i bought)
how do i stop this?
I added some extra oil the other day cos the car was low on it......could it just be burning oil cos theres too much in or is somethin else up?
The fumes are rotten and AFAIK the only way to stop it is to change it back. Any ideas??
Why did you do the mod on the LET?
was there a breathing problem then?
Re: LET rocker cover breather
Dave, can you post a photo or two?
I'd be interested myself as well
So have u put this breather filter onto the large cam breather hose?
Thought about a catch tank?
Oh, and is your one-way-valve working correctly?
AFAIK the 1 way valve works fine
Catch tank is no more, too many fumes from it.
Done the mod cos a bit of oil was goin from the crank case to the turbo (i maybe put too much oil in, i dunno)
JohnA- il get pics @ the weekend
pungent fumes you will not stop. dont know what to suggest really.
have a big pipe running to the back of the car, like a cam cover exhaust. plumb it back into the turbo (genuis)
it seems to be ok now...a bit smoky when either idle (under 2k rpm)or sittin on a hill......too much oil in the crankcase?
(i had an oil leak a week ago, and im paranoid jus now......the o ring on the dizzy was leakin, but its ok now. fixed it last week)
il get picsd up tomorrow...can someone tell me a free hosting site? mine got shut down (bar stewards!)
On my XE I have a long bit of pipe that goes across to the passenger side, then the filter, then pipe to the bottom of the engine bay next to the passenger side wishbone/gearbox. This way the fumes are ejected away out the bottom of the car, I do sometimes get a whiff if parked idleing for a few minutes.
Put your oily breather hose into the front of one of the sills. The oil mist/vapour will prevent any rust forming lmao
Coming next week- 'How to get your washing machine to fold shirts'
rofllmao @astra derv.
that one had me in stitches.
where can i get hosing? can i use rubber fuel hose?
the gases coming out of there are quite corrosive.
i just thought it was poisonous(sp?)
its just oily fumes
not quite, the gas is blow by from the cylinders.
i s'pose that cant be too good then
