The question is for the c20xe engine.
Unhapilly they told me that my car don't accelarate good in high rpm's from crap tappets, and not from the small diameter rearbox (fron cav 1.8 8v).
And yes I can hearing the the noise of the tappets not only the car is cold but always. More it is hearing at 3.000-4000 rpm.
Not sure how much of a difference noisy tappets make. I bought a 16V Jetta GTI and when it was warm the tappets sounded like a bag of spanners! I bought it with 108k and sold it to a mate who then sold it to another mate and between us we did about 50k miles (hard driving!). Car was fine until the following owner rolled it. No smoke from the engine and it was actually quicker than my 16V Golf GTI.
As for replacing them, I think they are about £16 each. Might be worth phoning Autovaux.
But is it normal my engine to loose the power after 5.000rpm?
I know that the max torque is at 4.800 rpm and the max power at 6.000 rpm.
Between these values the engine must give the best feeling, but mine is feeling like my old c16nz with more cc.
Like a 2.0 8v.
But is a red top engine. The best 16v engine for many years.
Why is it loosing so much power at high rpm's?
My mate told me that in high rpms the crap tappets can't push the valves to open at full position.
Is this correct?
Sorry for my crap English.
I don't expect my engine to works like a civic vti engine in high rpm's, but I 'm sure that my engine it doesn't work like it should.
I am saying that because before I put the engine I had driving a complete std gsi cavalier and it was faster in high rpm's from my car.
And my car is at least 100 kg lighter from a cav gsi and with smaller tyre diameter from a std gsi cav.
My car is heave after 5.500 rpm.
Yes it was normal for my old engine c16nz. It was 8v and with single point injection).
But why my 16v engine is working like a 8v engine.
Also I know that the camshafts of a c20xe engine have an impressive aggresive profile for a std car.
CAN this happening from crap tappets?
I am suspecting that this problem is from crap
tappets, exhaust system, missing ron plug, and maybe from dingy injectors.
But the problem is only in high rpm's.
The engine have perfect low end-middle torque.
But the tappets is listening incomodiously.
I am using the vaux oil semi synthetic. The car don't burn much oil for 16V engine I think. About 500-700 ml for 5.000km with 10w-40 oil.
