Right, I am no mechanic! I went and got my MOT this morning, and she sailed through! however was driving today and a bizarre noise developed.... On the Drivers side rear wheel, only intermitent and sounds like metal rubbing on metal. My rear brake pads have about 2mm on them and was advised at my last service to have them changed... When i steer left to right it has no effect on the noise, also when i brake it doesnt happen, although when the noise is happening and i break it gets louder!?
If anyone can shed any light on this i would be greatful!!
Also if your rear pads are knackered is it ok to drive still? I have a bit of driving to do in the next few days thats all!
The only thing i can think of is the pads have worn down to the metal, so are basically running metal on metal, the only other thing that moves near the back wheel when car is in motion are the wheel bearings, but i doubt it on a car that age. Not unless you slammed it into a few kerbs.
