It's a mixture of things I guess.
I like the relative simplicity of the 2WD GSi. I like the bullet proof nature of the XE.
I like not having a turbo and having to pinpoint a power band.
I like how light it feels compared to the Turbo.
I like the fact that I can take it out, thrash the arse of it and not care or worry.
I like that i can lower it without any precautions and just worry about wrecking tyres and bushes/joints not transfer boxes.
I like the look of it more than the turbo.
I like the fact that I sold the turbo, paid off quite a large debt, bought this car and still have enough to put throttle bodies on it.
I like the rasp from the exhaust.
I like having cloth back instead of leather.
I like having a car that isn't mint to begin with so wont worry if little things happen to it.
I like Cav GSi's.
That's some of the stuff. My biggest decision now is how far I go with it. Admittedly when I bought it I was thinking of using it as is and then getting rid of it later. It would take a few quid to get it in showroom condition but there is also something very appealing about ripping most of the interior out, lowering it on standard wheels and adding a set of 48's.
I guess time will tell, still I like it more each time I see it on the drive.
