C25XE common fueling problems?
Are there any?
Had problems with my car on the rollers. Cronic underfueling. So much so that the guys didn't do a full run.
A lot of deliberation as to exatly what it was when about 20 people decided to help pull the engine apart.
Vacume hose from the fuel pressure regulator was not attached, but it was strange as the little hose was pre-throttle, so not much vacume? Wierd design maybe, checked out on EPC.
Fuel pressure was running at 3 bar, so maybe the pump is fine?
Crap regulator maybe?
Took RDS out in it and both decided it was as flat as a fart.
But seems fine at certain rev ranges. Was running great on the motorway. Seemed an equal match for the Vectra V6 which got 189 lb's ft of torque.
Wierd. Anyone shed any light?
i'd be inclined to check the ACTUAL fuel pressure, maybe the spring and diaphragm have relaxed and your only getting 2 or 2.5
if the vacuum was off, then youd essentially be getting max pressure at all engine speeds, instead of the rising rate effect. so that wouldnt have caused a problem.
We rigged up a fuel pressure gauge to the little shrieder valve next to the pressure reg and it read 3 bar constant.
Well, we didn't put it back on the rollers aftwards so it may have been ok then.
Didn't notice any change in performance though.
so its underfuelling at the standard fuel pressure.
well then you gotta look at engine sensors and injector cleaning.
anyway, thes rolling road gimps bandy round their phrases, ooo its a bit lean, ooo its a bit rich, oooo its wheelspinning.
Only when the engine is at 3.5k revs or when the lamba becomes closed loop. Something is telling it not to give it fuel.
so maybe capacity is down, and the lambda is compensating, like giving the system a leg up when its active.
The injector dwell is fixed, the fuel pressure seems correct, all thats left is miss-infirmation form engien sensors, maybe the air flow metre.
i'd be inclined to start with ultrasonic injector cleaning.
Might do that then.
Will see if there are any code on the ECU. I reset it today while I was at Stickland's house. Might have something there.

when im in low rev ranges, the car is ropey as feck but when i get too 3.5k 4k the car shoots off like a rocket.. motorway it's fine. had 140 out of her today with more left in her....

Only a minor scrap to the side...but the best thing is I'm getting sponsored from BK racing some 18" beauties ..i'm using the money saved to fix my car and other new mods.
Car will be featued at the end of the month with Fast car, as they have my exclusive then Total V and other mags..fingers crossed.

Gareth, yeah, similar problems although mine doesn't feel masively down on power, I just notice it hasn't got that bit of kick that it should have.
same here sy... just aint got the kick in low revs.. strangely it's fine in 1st tho? ...it's not iddleing to well either.
if i disconnect the recirc valve from the back of the plenum, i seems to idle ok and has a wee bit more power.. what u recon?

Yeah, mine too! Took RDS in it earlier and it was good in first then for some reason, flat as a fart in second. Can be good sometimes though, thay's the wierd thing!
Not sure what valve you mean, the bit of hose that goes into the right hand side of the inlet?

yep thats the one sy.. its a motor that bolts up under the right handside of the plenunm then the tube runs to the inlet before the butterfly.. aint got a clue what its for tho... have found it's guzzling jice if i floor it as well... im well stuck now m8.. dunno how to check fault codes so im fighting a loosing battle... gonna keep my eye on this maybe we have the same prob?
