hi guys, my vectra 1.8 P reg has started cutting out on me when i stop at a junction. engine warning light also started to come on-dealer has checked code and it's the crank sensor. they also suggest replacing idle air control valve and they want £500 to supply and fit!
can you clean air idle control valve? is it easy?
the car was running fine until above dealer serviced it!
any help/advice appreciated.
this has been talked about a million times, its odd that garages and VX dealers say its a faulty part. There shoud be nothing wrong with the BOSCH part due to the age of the car, its praticly brand new.
The crank sensor (CAS) is a well known one again on Ecotec engines, theres even a report somewhere in TIS where it says that some Ecotec ECU looms were faulty in that it had poor/bad sheilding termination. This meant customers where paying £100's on new CAS when there was nothing wrong with them, it was a 10 min job with a soldering iron to solder the shield to a good GND point and it was fixed.
Do a search on here on how to clean out the ISCV, you can do it yourself, buy a can or carb cleaner (£4) and start sprying. Also clean out the breather pipes to the throttle body which is culprit in blocking up the ISCV in the first place.
Basically all your answers have already been answered on MIG, just need to do some searching.
