The LET has two breathers, the larger one feeds into the intake side of the turbo (AMM). The other smaller one is what you are talking about, this allows the engine to breath at idle as the throttle is closed. The restrictor (small diameter) prevents air been drawn through the breather system and around the throttle. It is heated to try and stop it becoming blocked (stops the oil vapour condensing).
Mine was blocked and didn’t deem to cause any problems, however it is there for a reason. Think that this been blocked on the XE's causes similar symptoms to those associated with cone type induction kits.
Thakyou M_Clayton. I was begining to think mine was the only one! Interesting they go to the lengths of water heating to try & prevent oil blocking it. Having said that, the breather part of it is fine, it's just the water bit that's sludgy and full of cr*p.
I'd love to junk it - I.e, loose the water connection, vent the cam cover breathers to a catch tank maybe and block the outlet on the inlet manifold. If only for simplicity.
Do u think this would be ok or should I stick with it as it is?
