Hi Rob, I got the modified map attachment. What is it that I do to transfer the modded bits. This is what I think:
Get Data, select modded chip file, select correct map, send to ECU. Is is the main ignition map and main fuel maps you have modifed or have you done anything to the other maps such as the coolant comp maps. What do I sent to the ECU. I have already sorted the rev limit out.
try the main maps first, just the fuel & ignition
i think i did mess about with other maps lol you can try a compare devices on the 2 files to get the differences
oh yeah, crank exit 600 revs is another change i did
by the way do any of the maps i have sent you require a pin number if you try and look at them with the ecu disconnected?
just wondering cos they are doing that for others...handy feature if i wanted to protect my precious maps lmao
aaaaaaaah i see what they've done....reduced the fuelling at idle loads (i was sitting there thinking, eh? that would idle at about 500 lmao) but theyve bumped the ignition up to a minimum advance of 10 degrees to raise the revs up
suppose you just gotta go with what the emissions tester says, but i wouldnt have said that it was running rich at idle to begin with personally.
ok, run with the maps i sent you yesterday as it would have been very lean at idle, plus its erratic IMO
just as a comment, they didnt enable a lambda for this map so was most likely done with an emissions test machine...not the quickest reacting machine when trying to map fuelling
so if i remember right you failed the emissions test on MOT...no idea how, i ran 60psi and bumped the fuel map up and still passed, they run quite lean on idle these TB setups. what they did was to drop the fuel right down and bump the advance up to compensate with the idle revs. shouldnt have been needed at all.
I dont think they even looked at the emissions because they didnt even enable the lambda sensor
I talked to dave at interpro about 5 weeks ago he said he would give £95 back for the trouble i had from interpro
BUT Ive not had a penny yet lol
oh by the way i paid £785 for they work lmao lmao lmao
Been out for a good long drive today, and the car is going really well with the modifed maps. Once warm the idle is now fine, and the top end performance is fantastic. Well done Rob. I am still a bit nervous driving as I keep hearing strange noises from the engine bay, but when I stop the look under the bonnet everything seems fine. Probably just me not used to the sound of the throttle bodies yet. I am getting this slight tapping sound at idle which I can only hear inside the car. You can barely hear it at all over the engine bay with the bonnet open. I think it may be the tapping of the fuel injectors openingand shutting amplified by the bonnet.
We had a slight disaster tonight when my dad came home. He came in and said his car was making grinding sound from the rear. I jacked the car up and found back and forth play in the rear nearside hub. The hub nut was loose and I think the bearing has collapsed. He wants it fixed ASAP but as I am on holiday and have things to do, I can't do it, so it means his car has to go into the garage tomorrow and he is taking my car to his work I have just given him a lesson on how to start the car with the throttle bodies on so hopefully he will be OK with it as long as he takes it easy. I will be much happier when my car comes back tomorrow night in one piece however.
tapping might just be the injectors as they are not shielded anymore and can be noisy feckers
whats up with the cold start? or do you mean he has to open throttle and keep revs up for 10 seconds type thing.
lmao @ taking it easy, i dont let my dad ANYWHERE near my car lmao he wants one now tho
nice bearing by the way, it will be ok for a few months tho like that no doubt
Yeah Rob, if you hold the throttle open about 1/4 the car will cold start fine and if you then hold the revs for 10-20sec no probs, but he doesn't know that and I don't want him getting me up at 6.45am when he leaves because he can't start the car I don't get long lies too often when I am working, and havn't had any so far this holiday because I have been out at the car early each day so far.
