having taking the turbo off my studs all came out, the new hybrid is coming tomorrow so i need to get all the studs in and ready.
How tight are these suppose to be are they nipped up or just put in with a few turns or is there a torque setting, thats if i can get two nuts on the end.
been told even nipping up can danage the head, puncture a water way surley the head isnt that FRAGILE
Use the same torque setting as for the XE which will be in the good ole haynes manual. Far more chance of stripping the threads than cracking the head by over tightening. I just done mine up fairly tight. enough to make sure the gasket sealed.
haynes mannual for xe 16v states 22nm for exhaust manfiold to head but nothing for exhaust studs to head
does mention inlet mannifold support to cylinder block at 25nm (is that referring to inlet mannifold studs)
Clean the threads thoroughly with WD40 and then dry them well.
I used less than 25Nm for the studs, there's no need for them to be very tight, let them tighten themselves (if they feel like it) as you correctly tighten the NEW nuts
