damn uni lecturerer confused me today. he was talking about performance charactersitics of ic and ci engines. p-v diagrams and the like!
anyway he went on to derive power and said the total power developed is the brake power plus the friction power. friction power = what??? flywheel losses and what else?? cos there must be more!
as well as that what does brake mean?? i get the whole conceopt of power but not break power??
and id be impressed if anyone else is studying this and puts up an ic enginve pv diagram lol. they're very confusing.
i also learned edzactly what is meant by retarding and advancing ignintion today as well as how turbos operate. they have takedn turbos and superchargers out of course though, which is good becuase there pv diagrams omg id never analyse them.
so friction power? what is it. we were also told thats why some dynamonitors (rolling roads?) are crap because they cant pick up on this friction power. that explains why some rrs give indifferent readings i suppose btu i thought the flywheel powers were accurate? anyone all knoweldgable?
