Yep. That'll stop it working every time.
Which cylinder is it?
I've heard of wierd problems with number 3 on LET engines due to high temps from the exhaust?
ouch!!! i like the red too, looks like it bled to death lmao
that doesnt look healthy tho, pete r's engine did the same as that, changed all the rockers and it was ok after.
they so dont like wild cams or high revs, speak to kent cams about their solid lifters and strengthened rockers if you are gonna keep the 8v going for a while
i've got a follower like the one in the bottom pic, cam outa my mates 1.4 carb mk2 astra.
broke cus the car was stolen and then trashed hard round glasgow. also bent the valve (not noticable till i rolled it over some glass) and damaged the guide.
i reckoned it was too heavy, as vauxhall did change the design on the followers. now they are lighter. as a lot of metal was removed from them where it was not needed. never seen a head break like that before though
excuse to put on a 16v head mibbee?
curiosity killed the cat...................but for a while i was a suspect!!
Unfortunately, when those followers break, they normally take out the head aswell like yours has.
My diesel engine has 'waisted followers' which are very thin at one point. These always break if the valves hit the pistons but that's normally it. I.e, no scrap head.
You could fit these waisted followers to your engine, they're a straight swap.
are they standard followers?
dont use the waisted/lighter followers they are shite!!!!
when i have money, i will put 16V head.. the Brian-S help me so much with the fuel injection system.. and now, i try save money for make my dream 16V engine..
but 8V is nice too, with my setup, make a really nice and stupid power..

Holy sh*t!!! This is actually something I havent seen before!!!! ....dont know how about you guys, but it seems to me that Matheus had some very good (in terms of knowledge and troubleshooting skills) posts in the last few month.... the blow-by...then the famous low-pressure post (that was excellent!!) and now this. Too bad it was one person only that when thru all of that.
So Matheus, whats the plan then for prolonged high-rpm use?? Some pure titanium technology out of shot-down XR-71 Blackbird??
Hope you get it running again soon (improved).
-= New boosting station under construction =-
Do you use exeedingly 'wild' cams?
That could cause it, or imperfect installation
heheheheheh..lol.. yeah friend, happen all with me!!!So Matheus, whats the plan then for prolonged high-rpm use?? Some pure titanium technology out of shot-down XR-71 Blackbird??yeah, i think the wild camshaft (280 degrees) that i used, make something bad for my tappets.. but i didn´t running so much with 280 cam, when its crash, i stay with standard cam..Do you use exeedingly 'wild' cams?
Crash when i stay around 6.900rpm and max boost(1.6 bar), make a noise: "pooofff", i think in my mind, "is a hole in piston...much pressure, high CR...is detonation".. but when i get off the head, make this surprise for me..
I hope this don´t happen again with me..
