Number 4 injector isn't working on me 16 Valve GTE. I know for sure it is definately an electrical fault. There is no power getting to it. Is there an easy way to fix if say join the wire from number 4 to number 1 injector? Thanx in advance.
wiring to number four wont work, must be a break in the wire to the injector, get a meter and check the continuity from one end of it to the other, i.e ecu to njector plug, you should be able to find the faulty piece fairly easily
Taking a feed from another one prob won't work on the XE, don't forget, its SFI (sequential fuel injection) and each injector is pulsed at the right time.
Unlike say, a Peugeot lump that all fire simultaneously.
Check the wiring on no.4, and that the plastic multiplug/wire holder thing is pushed on properly.

How do you know, tired the injectors on another car or had them ultrasonically cleaned?
Have you measured with a DVM set to volts on the ends of the 2-pin connecotr on the ECU loom ans measured the voltsge when on (shuld get a voltage reading of some kind even though its a frequency output, ie RMS value).
Have you measured across the injector, should be between 14-16ohms.
don't know, its 50/50, either GND or live pulse.
Don't think its your ECU, I would blame connecot or wire loom fault, you've got to be really, really unlucky to have a faulty ECU. Look at the back of the haynes book and look at the schemativs and work out the wire route from there.
Thanx Topbuzz. Swopped me ECU with me mates 20XE today and it did the same so that rules that out. Must be the wiring loom. Checked with a couple of Vaux specialist. The ECU does send a ground pulse to the injectors.
there was a postng on hear some time ago about a guy with a simialr problem, I think he found the fault inside that long thin black plastic box that snaps ontop of the fuel injectors. In there is the main ECU loom, along with the wires to the fuel injectors. There are several thick wires all tied together and the ends stripped, twisted and wrapped with insulation tap. Have a look around in that black box.
