Kirstys Cav GSi failed its MOT last week on the following...........
Power steering rack leaking oil n/s/f
Track rod end badly worn (read: hanging off)
Front lower suspension arms bent and cracked
o/s/r and n/s/r front suspension mounts worn and adrift
Rear pads on stops
o/s/f tyre worn, inner edge and has large cut in this area
n/s/r chassis, by suspension mount, corroded and holed
We have a p/steering rack waiting to go on, an axle set of front discs & pads is only £40, and wishbones can be had from a motor factors for about £25 each (so I'm told), track-rod-end about £15, part-worn tyre for a tenner... that's a big portion of the failure sorted...
Not seen the suspension mounts so don't know how to fix that, and then there's the welding...... hmmmm... welding.
I have had offers of help to sort it but I don't know how bad it is (and neither does she)...
So..... fix it? Sell it? Break it? Get an SRi Cav and 16V it? Any other inspirational ideas??
Please bear in mind that we don't have a lot of dosh to splash around so any suggestions would have to be very economical..
