im definitly getting no detination, but my car keeps running maximum retard intermitantly............. eg one day it will be fine and the next its not.............. also you can plant ya foot down from a junction, then the next junction its retarded again..........
ive got no fault codes coming up at all......... what do i check for in the wiring then.............. were is this sheild that was spoken about?????
The shield is the outer part of the coaxial cable that goes from the knock sensor to the ECU. Bascially it's shielded to stop it picking up noise on the signal noise. As it goes in the same loom as the injector drive (fairly high frequency, and high current) the likely hood of picking up electrical noise without it is high.
As for no DSP, well the Q of the filter would have to be very high to reject everything else apart from a very narrow band. It would have to be a pretty good analog design. It's likely there is a chip there which deals with the knock signal. You could probably change the sensitivity there to be honest.
Has anyone reverse engineered that part of the circuit? The toyota ECU has the knock sensor going into the processor via an A/D. So say hello to FFT and DSP.
Just sorted my knock sensor problem, as my last resort I bought a length of screened cable, stipped the ECU loom plug to solder the new wire in, wiggled the the wire that was there & it game off, decided just to solder that wire on to the pin, problem solved!
